Monds Goes Off! Wonderful Monds IV Explodes for 5 TDs in Season Opener

It's no wonder why Marcus Freeman and the coaching staff at Notre Dame were so excited to land a commitment from 2027 4-star QB Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV back in May of this year, and Friday night once again showed why. Monds IV opened up his senior season at Vero Beach High School in spectacular fashion, racking up five total touchdowns: three in the air and two on the ground.

Monds IV is an elusive playmaker with a strong arm who can throw on the run, something that is a big hurdle for any defense to overcome. Monds IV ended the night 12 for 14, for 195 passing yards, three passing TDs, and two on the ground. His performance helped Vero Beach beat Jenson Beach 34-0 to open the season 1-0 giving Notre Dame fans an exciting glimpse of what's to come in the very near future in South Bend.
