2028 4-Star running back Jayshawn Mitchell put together the kind of performance that will be talked about for the rest of the season. Mitchell, helped Brennan cruise past Reagan 63-0, making an impact every time he touched the football. Mitchell finished the night with 141 rushing yards on only six carries, averaging an eye-popping 23.5 yards per carry, while finding the end zone three times on the ground.
What made Mitchell’s night even more impressive was his impact beyond the running game. The explosive playmaker added a 55-yard punt-return touchdown, giving him four total touchdowns on the night. His ability to create explosive plays as both a running back and returner gives Brennan another dangerous weapon and shows why Mitchell is quickly becoming one of the most intriguing young prospects in Texas.
Mitchell’s Week 2 performance also builds on an impressive start to his junior season. He opened the year with 153 rushing yards and three touchdowns against Vandegrift, then followed that performance with another huge outing against Reagan. Mitchell has already established himself as one of the central pieces of the Bears’ offense—and his combination of speed, explosiveness, and versatility should continue to draw plenty of attention as the 2026 season moves forward. It's easy to see why Mitchell has become a top target on Notre Dame's board, and after performances like these, he'll continue to remain there.
