Notre Dame WR Quincy Porter Shut Down for Season After Knee Surgery

Notre Dame wide receiver Quincy Porter will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing another procedure on his knee, Irish head coach Marcus Freeman announced.
Porter arrived at Notre Dame (via the transfer portal) following patella surgery and had been working toward making his return to the field. Freeman said Porter underwent another procedure approximately a month ago that the team believed would be the final step in getting him ready to play.
However, after getting close to returning, Porter experienced a flare-up that ultimately led doctors to recommend another season-ending surgery.
“He came to Notre Dame post patella surgery,” Freeman explained. “About a month ago we had another procedure that we thought was gonna be the last thing he needed to get him back game-ready, and he was getting really close and had a little flare-up…and the doctors made a decision for him to have season-ending surgery to get his patella to where it needs to go.”
While the setback is undoubtedly disappointing for Porter, Freeman emphasized the type of person he has been throughout the process and expressed confidence that the young receiver will eventually make his way back.
“He’s a great young man who has really done everything right, and he has another setback, but his mind is in the right place, and he’ll be back at some point before we know it,” Freeman said.
Porter’s focus now shifts toward recovery and getting his knee fully healthy. After battling through multiple setbacks, Notre Dame will hope to see the young talented receiver back on the field when he is ready.
